Tessellations

W.A.L.T understand how to make tessellations using squares. A tessellation is where all of an area is covered with one or more shapes that fit together with no gaps and no overlaps.

Once I did some research of how to do it I tried it out and it looked good.

My sources were from circlesandtrianglesblog.wordpress.com and

Have you done tesselation?

Have you ever made an war poster?

Book review of Diary Of A Wimpy Kid - The last straw

I think this book is really cool because its got writing and drawing on every page! Greg Heffley is the main character. His friend is called Rowlly and Greg has got a older brother called Rodrick  and a little brother called Manny. His dad signed him up for soccer and he got picked in the worst team. When it was game time Greg didn´t play on the field, he had to be the ball boy, that means getting the ball when it goes out. A parent is now the ball boy so Greg can be a back up goalie so he thinks he will not have to play which makes him happy because he doesn´t want to.  However the goalie hurt his hand so Greg had to go in. It was the final minute and Greg´s team was tying 1-1, but Greg started playing with dandelions and the centre mid kicked the ball from half way and the other team won the game!

I am enjoying this book because it is funny and cool to read. I also like it because its got writing and drawing on every page! I like Greg´s personality because he is funny and wacky. I also like what the story is based around as I like playing soccer with my friends.

How to use a protractor

W.A.L.T use a protractor is and how to use it.

I learnt how to use one and what the different terms meant eg vertex. It was sometimes challenging because it was quite hard to see the number of degrees accurately.

The picture came from a google search saying protractor - source unknown. My answers came from a talk with mum, the videos and blakes math guide.

Do you know how to use one.

Poppy timeline

W.A.L.T do a timeline about poppies and explain why each year was important.

I had to read through the document and find the important parts. Then I had to rearrange the information into the correct order starting from 1914.

I think 1922 is the most important year because it started the poppy fundraiser of.

Poppy poster

Poppies have become important around the world because they are recognised as being a symbol of remembrance of the soldiers who fought in the war. And they also are a very important source of fundraising for the RSA to give money to the soldiers families.

W.A.L.T use the information about poppies to create an advert.

I liked the layout of Poppy Day and next to it, it was our ideas.

What we used was a brainstorm.

Have you made a poster about poppies? comment below.

Acronym for Angles

W.A.L.T Come up with a rhyme or catchy phrase to help us remember angles.

I enjoyed doing the shapes for the pizza as well as relating it to my favourite food.

I got my information from brainstorming and talking to my mum.

Can you think of another way to remember the angles? comment below.

Pentecost

Pentecost

W.A.L.T identify what Pentecost is.

Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem and then he went to heaven. When the disciples got to Jerusalem they heard a strong wind. Then there was fire on their heads and they were talking in different languages. The crowd was celebrating about Pentecost but they heard people talking different languages. Then Peter came out and said that Jesus was the holy spirit and came down which made them speak in different languages. He also said that Jesus was the son of God and that you should get baptised to be in their family and turn away from evil Jewish leaders. On that day 3,000 people got baptised. Jesus promised that he will always be with us.

Reflection I enjoyed the video where I got the information from. I found it hard to put the story into words to start with.

I learnt that Jesus spent 50 days with his disciples.

The video was from Sharefaith kids on youtube.

Do you know where Pentecost comes from? comment below.

How to brush your teeth

W.A.L.T  learn to write a step by step guide to help people clean their teeth properly.

I enjoyed thinking my way through the process of how to clean my teeth.

I went on google and searched a boy cleaning his teeth and it came up with Can stock.com as my final picture. Another one was the toothbrush it came painting vally.com. Then for the stop watch it was 123rf.com.

Is this how you clean your teeth? comment bellow

The beach

The beach is one of the best things in the world from my perspective.

I love the beach because it is fun to swim around in and that you can get wasted by the waves. I like it because you can go for walks or runs and that you can surf, boogie board and skimboard.

Sometimes the waves can be different like big ones or small ones. It depends on the wind. If you go in the morning it is usually calm and reasonable for surfers and boogie boarders. If you go in the afternoon it's more likely to be windy and rough.

Rips are the worst thing about the beach. If you get caught in one, paddle to the side or just let it take you out the back. You need to stay calm even though you will be scared. To see a rip you need to analyse the waves. A rip takes place where there is a place in the beach where the waves are not breaking you can also feel the rip trying to take you out by the under current which feels like you're getting sucked down a vacuum cleaner and spat out.

Maisie

Maisie is my very cute and cuddly new puppy I just got before lockdown. Her breed is a Cavoodle and she’s black and tan. We went to the first lession of puppy school and they told us the key comands like stay, sit, lie down and come.

Maisie was so excited to meet the other cute puppies that she didn’t listen very well and was a bit of a scamp! She also ran away to the other puppies while the instructor was talking.

When we got her we bought a squeaky toy and a crate. We also gave her socks and my old teddies to chew on. My big dog called Breagh didn’t like her at first but after a couple of weeks she now loves to play with her.

Usually in the morning they play fight and have a “bark off” which wakes everyone up in the house and probably the neighbours! At night Maisie and Breagh lie on their beds or couch and have a cuddle with either me or mum. Our cat Shadow is slowly coming down at night to have cuddles as well which is nice because she has been living upstairs since Maisie came.

Geometry

Lockdown, stuff that i have been doing

Lockdown I have been doing some creative stuff to entertain me.

The first thing I have been doing is throwing a tennis ball into the yellow bin from different angles. Once you've got it in you do it from a different place. I played it in the backyard with Dad. Sometimes we had to throw the ball from spots where you couldn't see where the target was such as throwing it over the deck into the bin by the tree. This was tricky.

Secondly, I started washing the dishes at night after dinner. It is better than drying in my perspective because drying is boring!

Thirdly, I created a mini tennis court on the back lawn, but the ball doesn't bounce very well due to the long grass. I created it by tying 2 bins together with a rope that goes around the handles. If you don't have a big enough rope you can tie a knot between them in the middle.

Another thing I have been doing is ping pong. We put the ping pong table up and started playing first to ll or 21 in games of 3. I practiced my back hand because dad was targeting it. I beat dad more often than he beats me!

Also, I have started making my lunch. Most of the time I have a bacon sandwich with tomato sauce. To do this I get the frying pan out and put the bacon on the frying pan. Then I have to turn the cooker on to fry it. While that cooks, I get a plate, 4 pieces of bread and tomato sauce ready. Then I take the bacon off and put it on the bread. The 2 pieces left go on top of the bacon. Then you chop the bread up and … voila! I love bacon sandwiches!
